Recent Wedding Stories
There’s nothing ordinary about a wedding day. And so, it deserves to be treated with the respect and attention that honors it. Every couple’s unique story culminates in this wonderful and rare gathering of loved ones to celebrate all they are and all they will become. Between feelings of excitement, anticipation, joy and love, you’ll find us. We are skilled in the practice of blending in and documenting the day as it unfolds, capturing the authenticity of the emotion and connection you share. The images we create are ones you’ll look at for the rest of your lives and that will live on for posterity. This is no small thing. This is exciting. This is part of your story!
Frequently Asked Questions
All of our wedding collections include all of the edited hi-resolution digital files. When we say “all,” we mean all the ones that are worthy to be seen. Read on to learn more about that.
We deliver them in a password-protected online gallery, which you’ll be welcome to share to your heart’s content.
Nope!
It’s safe to assume 50-100 images per each hour we shoot.
You will receive all of your images no later than six weeks after your wedding day. Within the first week, you’ll receive a couple dozen highlights, which we call teasers, to hold you over until they’re all ready.
Doesn’t everyone want prints?! We pride ourselves in offering some great print options ranging from loose gift prints you can frame yourself to custom-sized wall art. You are also welcome to print them yourself, but highly recommend using us so we can ensure the quality is what it should be. Plus, it makes your life easier. :)
Ohhh, the wedding album. <3 One of our most favorite products. You see, we are living proof of what the wedding album is all about… Whenever we have guests at our home, one of the first orders of business is sitting them down with a beverage of their choice and our wedding album. It’s such a great conversation starter. After they ask, “...but who shot YOUR wedding?!” we sit with them and reminisce on one of our most-favorite days, tell stories, laugh, cry (Meli cries; Matt can usually keep it together) and revel in the opportunity to remember how grateful we are to have found each other.
We want this experience for every one of our couples, which is why all of our wedding collections include an album credit that covers the first 10 spreads (20 pages in normal-speak) of your wedding album, with several upgrades and custom options available.
Great question. Through much trial and error, we have landed on a process that works for us to create you a custom-designed album you will cherish. After you receive your wedding photos, we ask you to create a favorites list (very easily done within the online gallery). Using those favorites, we design an album that very intentionally tells the story of your day, showcasing the most important moments. This is no scrapbook; it’s a visual story. Then, we accept one round of revisions, show you a finalized design that you approve, and within 6-8 weeks, you’ll have your very own wedding album to show off. Very excite!
We sure do. There’s nothing like a new destination to spark our creativity. We are seasoned travelers and love to take any opportunity to do so. If you’re planning a destination wedding outside of either of our home bases of Naples, Florida and Boston, Massachusetts, you should read this!
We sure do! You can check out our gallery of drone images here… Matt is our drone pilot and has worked hard to hone his skills since he started flying in April, 2017. Sometimes, Meli has some crazy ideas and what some may say are unreasonable requests, which have lead him to fly in some precarious situations, but it’s always resulted in some pretty cool shots, so, it’s fine.
Nope! We bring our drone to every wedding, thus it is included in every collection. Due to federal law and mother nature, we can’t always guarantee we’ll be able to use it, but we do our absolute best to ensure we’re aware of any potential roadblocks ahead of time and, when building your timeline, take into account the time needed to get creative with it.
I mean, do you technically need it? I suppose not, but we recommend it as highly as one can recommend a thing. It’s an opportunity to not only get comfortable in front of a camera, but in front of our cameras. Much like I don’t understand a bride wearing fake eyelashes for the first time ever on her wedding day (blog post about that here), I wouldn’t recommend having the first time we follow you around like paparazzi be your wedding day.
PLUS, photography is all about storytelling and capturing life’s important moments and phases. Your engagement is its own chapter in your story, regardless of how long or short. It’s the only time you (bride-to-be) will wear that one beautiful ring that you can’t stop staring at. Celebrate that! (I talk more about the importance of an engagement session on this blog post.)
No way, José. Do you ask for the ingredients of the delicious dish at your favorite restaurant before the chef cooks it? Right. No, thank you. We hand-edit every single image we deliver to you and, while you two possess the magic necessary to bring the images into existence, the rest of the magic happens in the post-production. Plus, a decent percentage of the photos we take end up are out-of-focus test shots, images where people are blinking or making unflattering faces, and the like. You don’t want those. Click here to see a blog post with a bunch of before-and-afters, which should quickly convince you that you don’t want the RAWs anyway.
Super question. While this is a fairly common practice in the photography world, we love being uncommon, so the answer is no. But I promise it isn’t just for the sake of defiance… In over a decade of shooting, I’ve learned there are certain images that were BORN to be black-and-white, and giving you every single image edited both ways is not only extraneous, but it dilutes the artistry of the stunners. Undoubtedly, there are some images that lend themselves super well to both and in those situations, we deliver it both ways. With that being said, if there are certain images you’d like to see in black-and-white, and you ask nicely, we’ll probably show you, and there’s a 90% chance you’ll prefer it the way we originally showed it. That statement is based on scientific evidence, not overconfidence, I promise. ;)
You are welcome to, but we would prefer you didn’t. Since our style (read here more about “style”) leans heavily toward documentary style, a shot list takes us away from being able to capture your day in a way that will read most authentically. Of course, if there are a few special details, moments or people you’d like to be captured, we honor that, but we promise that if you put your trust in us, we will do your day justice.
The only exception to the above statement is family formals; we will guide you through creating groupings that will capture those most-important people are during the family formal section of the day. (You can read more about family formals here!)
We sure do. And we approach the creation of each video the same way we do photo; each one Check out our videography page here.
Yup! All digital, GIFs & stills, super portable, battery-operated, and all of the fun. It has its own website, we call it the Neubooth, best photo booth in town
Ahh, style. The Cliffsnotes version: bright, airy, organic, artsy, unposed, distinctive. The non-Cliffsnotes version is available here.
The expensive kind! Ha.. ha.. Just kidding, but seriously… Tens of thousands of dollars worth. Nikon bodies, lenses and flashes; DJI drone; and a bunch of other stuff you can read about here. :)
For weddings, typically. There’s something special and effortless about how we work together, which lends itself particularly well to a wedding day flow. In fact, I believe we have yet to work a wedding where guests don’t approach us to comment on how “cool” or “fun” it is to watch us work, which we think is pretty cool… Simply put: we are better together. Matt’s attention to detail and technical aptitude paired with Meli’s spontaneous creativity and upbeat energy are the perfect mix. As a husband and wife, we provide each other with exactly the support we need to show up as our best selves for each couple and their guests. And intrinsically, we hope to exemplify the kind of healthy and loving relationship our couples are committing to on their own day. Practically and logistically, we always have a plan and know where each other is, what we’re doing or what we’re supposed to be doing to ensure we’re capturing everything you need or didn’t know you needed, from details, to cocktail hour candids to magazine-worthy portraits and everything in-between.
With all that being said, a few of our team members are also experienced at shooting weddings and can be available if we’re double-booked or if there were an emergency.
There’s truly no simple answer to this question. Firstly, the most obvious answer: nobody else is US, much like nobody else is YOU. There is a certain energy that naturally occurs when we’re together, and we bring it wherever we go. Not just because we think it’s pretty great, but because we can’t seem to get rid of it! (lol, sorry, bad joke)...
We’ve been told this energy serves us well in that people feel very comfortable around us. We also hear frequent words of appreciation regarding the mix of professionalism and fun we bring. We take our job to capture your day incredibly seriously, but we wouldn’t be in this business if it weren’t fun, so, we make sure to be both.
If you feel a connection to our work, like what you read in our about us section, and photography is a priority for you, that’s a great start. And if you’re feeling those things right now, waste no time and fill out our contact form!
If you’re still not sure, that’s cool, too… Here’s the thing: there are a LOT of talented photographers out there, and many of them husband-and-wife teams; there are truly only so many shooting and editing styles, focal points, cool angles and poses. However, here is what we know: when we are the right fit for a couple, it’s usually pretty obvious. Connection is everything. A natural connection is what creates the most comfortable atmosphere that allows you to be yourselves and us to be most creative, which yields the most authentic images.
Those who choose to work with us often say that our work feels different and special. We love that! You should want something different and special for yourself. We also love interacting with people and are proud of how often we’re told how easy and fun we are to work with. But enough from us… Check out what our past couples and clients have had to say about us!
Ohhh, money. Everybody’s favorite topic of conversation. :) Our top priority is to make sure we’re the right fit for you before we talk numbers in detail. Evaluating your needs is important to ensuring we offer you the right services, and everyone’s needs are different, so, we’ve got a few collections to get you started and can always customize from there. Our collections start at $5,500 and our couples have invested upwards of $10,000 between services and products. See more info in our pricing page.
