Sarah & Tyler — Wedding

by | Weddings

Have you been to Cancun?

When it comes to travel, we tend to be more excited about not-so-touristy locations, but when I, Meli, found out that my friend Sarah, whom I’ve known for 20 years now (yikes!) was getting married in Cancun, I knew we needed in. And I’m here to report: Cancun is worth the hype.

On June 6th, 2016, Tyler asked Sarah to marry him. He had planned a trip to the Notch at the top of Mt. Baldy in California, which was also the site of one of their first dates. Upon arriving to the gondola that takes you to the peak, they discovered it was closed, but he carried on with his plan anyway.

He played Sarah a video he had made with photos documenting her life and theirs together, set to the sounds of Truly, Madly, Deeply by Savage Garden (also their first dance song!) ((Also, they proudly admit to be the only two people who still listen to Savage Garden, lol – I still jam out to their famous songs when they come on my 90s Pandora station, for the record!))

Having been randomly invited for a manicure with Tyler’s mom the day before (a one-time occurrence), Sarah was pretty sure she knew what was coming, but it didn’t make it any less nerve-wracking.

Tyler had recruited his friend Joe to drive his Dad and Sarah’s mom (a surprise flown in from Boston!) to meet them on the mountain, so when he told her there was a surprise and her mom stepped out of the car, she totally lost it. While hugging her mom, Tyler got down on one knee and when she emerged teary-eyed from the hug, she got to answer the question she knew was coming.

While Tyler was bummed that the Notch plan didn’t work out, Sarah says she would have said yes in a Denny’s parking lot, so, she was thrilled.

Besides having a great engagement story, their overall story is pretty fantastic as well. Tyler’s sister, Taryn, is Sarah’s best friend. Sarah and Tyler met when Sarah was Taryn’s Maid of Honor in Cancun. So, getting married in Cancun was almost a no-brainer. Especially with most of Tyler’s friends and family being in California and Sarah’s in Massachusetts, people were going to have to travel anyway.

I asked Taryn if she had ever thought Sarah & Ty would make a good couple before they met and she said yes, and that she had told Sarah, but Sarah responded that Tyler looked too much like Taryn and that it would never work… Apparently not!!!

SO, on April 22nd, 2017, Matt and I had the honor of documenting their wedding day. Since we were there for a few days, we also shot some of the rehearsal dinner and had a totally dreamy sunrise shoot the day before the wedding. 😀 All photos shot at the Beach Palace Resort.

Sarah & Ty  have the coolest group of friends and family and had entrusted people to document the wedding on GoPros (cannot waaaait to see that video!!). Sarah wore 3 different dresses throughout the day and looked more and more gorgeous with each one. The dance floor was filled all night, whether dancing to Sarah’s fave, The Backstreet Boys, or Piano Man all together with glasses raised.

We had the best time. Enjoy!!

17 Days of Gratitude — Day 6 — Our health!

Friends! Today, we are grateful for our health. We’re mostly bummed that it’s not at 100% right now, but it makes it easy to be grateful for the fact that, 360 days of the year, we feel pretty darn good. I’ve gotta go rest myself back to health!! Stay healthy, my friends, and check out […]
